Notes on Aquarium Substrate:

  • Typically, the recommended substrate depth ranges from 1 to 4 inches (2.5 to 10 cm), depending on the size of the aquarium and the plants in your aquarium.
  • Even though the bags may be marketed as “pre-rinsed” or “pre-washed”, they should be carefully rinsed in a bucket at least three times.
  • For quarantine and breeding tanks, a bare bottom is best.
